There might be a possibility that another “Twilight” movie is in the offing as Lionsgate already hinted its comeback.
According to Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairman Patrick Wachsberger, they will support Stephanie Meyer, the author of the popular “Twilight” saga series, should she release more stories for the hit vampire movie.
“It’s a possibility,” he said in an interview. “Not a certainty, but it’s a possibility. If she wants to tell a story related to those characters we’re here for her.”
It is not impossible that a new “Twilight” movie might be released following its successful box office sales of the franchise.
The “Twilight” franchise has earned over $3 billion for its film sales only from its five installments.
“Twilight was a game changer for everyone involved,” Patrick Wachsberger told Screen Daily.
But from Stephanie Meyer’s perspective, writing a continuation of story may less likely to happen though there has been additional books after the “Twilight” series, “Midnight Sun” and “Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined.”
Screen Rant said the author “has given no indication she plans to continue the vampire story she began writing more than a decade ago.”
After the success of the “Twilight” franchise, Lionsgate has ventured into other franchises which included “Step Up,” “The Hunger Games,” and the “Divergent” series.
While there has not been any confirmation for the possible production and release date of the new “Twilight” movie, Patrick Wachsberger underscored that Lionsgate is now excited for its new franchise “The Kingkiller Chronicle” and “Chaos Walking.”
“The Kingkiller Chronicle is definitely a franchise,” he said. “It is three books, a fantastic world. It has all the potential to be a very big franchise. It’s not dissimilar to the world of The Lord Of The Rings.”
