Actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie takes on the top spot for the World’s Most Admired Women of 2016. She has beaten royals too.
In a survey conducted by YouGov, the humanitarian and mother-of-six was hailed as the most admired women in the world, ahead of Queen Elizabeth who placed as number two, and Hillary Clinton in number 3.
Since the survey’s first installment two years ago, Brad Pitt’s wife has never been ousted in the top ten. YouGov started out its yearly survey for the most admired men and women in the world in 2015, where they asked 25, 000 people out of 23 countries to nominate the men and women whom they look up to and admire the most.
Also included in the top ten for the were host Oprah Winfrey, United States First Lady Michelle Obama, singer Celine Dion, Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock.
Meanwhile, Bill Gates emerged in number one for the list’s male counterpart, followed by U.S President Barack Obama, Xi Jinping, Jackie Chan and Stephen Hawking.
Angelina Jolie’s husband Brad Pitt also landed in the 14th place.
The Hollywood actress, who is known for her humanitarian causes in war and poverty stricken countries, was notably popular in countries like Brazil, Russia and Egypt. In the United States, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Malala Yousafzai are ahead of the list, In Style said in a report.
For U.K Malala Yousafzai is also in the top list after Queen Elizabeth, Judi Dench, and Kate Middleton.
