Nexus 6P owners were the first to get a taste of the Android Nougat back in March after enrolling in the beta program. Now after its official release in August 22, the OS is available for the device.
This brings the features of the highly anticipated OS to 6P users. One of these is the split-screen function which allows the user to open two apps simultaneously on the foreground.
The Huawei-built phablet was released last fall and came out of the box with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Most of its features are worthy of a flagship model, a metallic body with a slightly protruding glass strip that houses the camera.
Powered by an octa-core processor and equipped with Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 chipset. This was complimented by Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
Android Nougat Now On The Nexus 6P
According to Neurogadget, the only thing that didn’t please fans was the lack of a microSD card slot. Having to choose between three variants of 32/64/128 GB memories emitted Apple vibes who have insisted in the lack of external storage in their devices.
A fingerprint scanner is also integrated to lock/unlock the device and to make online payments through the Android Pay service. Featuring 5.7-inch that supports a QHD resolution at 518ppi and protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 the Nexus 6P was definitely a high-end model.
Camera-wise the 6P is packs a 12.3MP with laser autofocus and dual LED flash. An 8 MP high-resolution secondary camera completes the device in terms of photographic capability.
All of this is powered by a 3450 mAh battery capable of lasting a whole day on a single charge. This is of course is based on standard energy usage so no whole day browsing or gaming.
Nexus 6P owners should opt for the NRD90U build when getting the Android Nougat. This is different from the earlier beta OTA which utilized the NRD90M build which ushered the August 5 security patch.
