Android N Launcher Brings Slide Screen To Non-Nexus Devices

If you have been eagerly waiting for the launch of Google’s latest operating system and finally be able to download Android N, then you may still have to wait. But in the meantime, you may use one of its features for your non-Nexus device with the help of Android N launcher, an app developed by AlphaDroid, which is currently available in Play Store for downloading.

Android N launcher can be downloaded for free. Once you install this app, you will be able to enjoy Slide Screen, an Android N feature which lets you quickly access some shortcuts by swiping the home screen. If you want to customize the slider, you can, but the app will then charge you for the same.

With Android N launcher, you can also experience other features of the operating system like:

  1. texts,
  2. missed call,
  3. email count,
  4. double-tap to turn off the display,
  5. other bells and whistles
  6. folder customizations

In short, before Android N comes to non-Nexus devices, Android N launcher is doing a great job of giving users a preview. In the end, you will feel like you’re phone is running on Android N and not other operating systems. Similarly, Android M launcher is also available for the devices running Android Kitkat and Lollipop. So, if you still haven’t received Android M on your phone, you can download Android M launcher from the Play Store.

The (official) Android N Preview is scheduled for next month. After the I/O Conference which is scheduled in May, the operating system will be released to non-Nexus devices as well. Let us see if Google will be as quick in releasing the final version as it was with the preview. The next line of Nexus phones is also expected later this year. If Google plans to keep the OS exclusive to the new devices (at least till the launch), non-Nexus phones might have to wait for the OS till next year, or the end of 2016.
