Two OnePlus smartphones will receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update. It’s still unclear if a third device will get the same sugary treatment.
OnePlus is now working on a software update that will bring Android 7.0 Nougat to the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus 3. The Chinese manufacturer has yet to announce a roll out date.
Neuro Gadget predicted that the over-the-air content will arrive later this year. It could also release in early 2017 to coincide with the launch of the latest OxygenOS firmware.
Some tech experts believe the OnePlus 3, which released back in June, will receive the software patch first. The OnePlus 2 will likely get it a month after.
According to Android Authority, the Android 7.0 Nougat update adds a host of visual an performance upgrades. A new split-screen mode lets users multitask easily. The feature can be enabled in both landscape and portrait view.
Users can switch between apps faster. Double tapping the app’s overview button will automatically swap the two most recently used apps.
Google’s latest mobile operating system is also compatible with the Vulkan 3D rendering API. In Android 7.0 Nougat, games are rendered at a higher graphical capacity with greater GPU control.
Owners of the OnePlus X shouldn’t get their hopes up too high. OnePlus is still tight-lipped on whether or not the October 2015 handset will eventually receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update.
It can be remembered that Android 6.0 Marshmallow has just started rolling out for the 5-inch mid-level smartphone. User who can’t wait to boot Android Nougat can do so by using CyanogenMod to install the firmware. Backing up your data before trying this method is highly recommended.
