Google’s next Android operating system will be officially known as “Nougat” with the official release date yet to be known. Android 7.0 could be out by September though even that is up for confirmation.
As most Android phone users await its official release, the closest thing right now is the public Android N Developer Preview which came out back in March. Vague as that reference may be, the real score behind the release of Android 7.0 is really anyone’s guess at the moment.
Nexus ‘Sailfish’ and ‘Marlin’ Armed With Android 7.0 Nougat
The best bet right now is that Android 7.0 Nougat will likely be included out of the box once Google unveils its two Nexus models — Sailfish and Marlin. The two devices are Google’s own and made by HTC per Phone Arena.
Other than that, it remains to be seen when other devices such as the Nexux 9, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 5x and Nexus 5 will have their OS updates.
Google Nexus 9 Tablet Getting Android 7.0 N Soon?
One of Canada’s largest mobile websites, Rogers, hints that the Google Nexus 9 could be among the first devices getting Android 7.0 Nougat. Such was spotted in a listing and tagged as “Coming Soon”.
Based on the site listing, it is likely that other devices such as the Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 5x and Nexus 5 will also be getting the Android bump. The bad part is that “Coming Soon” doesn’t give a definite date of release.
Aside from Google’s line of devices, HTC has confirmed Android 7.0 N to the HTC 10, One M9 and A9. But like the case of the Nexus series, an actual date could really help a lot in determining when the latest Android OS will be out.
The best bet is this September which isn’t that far off. But like previous Android rollouts, the waiting game is another strenuous stretch to worry about.
