There are also reports saying that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Xiaomi may be based on the MIUI 8. The expected release of such is around the first quarter of this year. Just like other Android updates, availability of the program varies per region and carriers. Users are advised to check with their networks on the final schedule of release. Other add-ons may also depend on the network.
On top of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, Xiaomi is also busy preparing for the release of its next flagship. According to The Verge, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be released around February 24. It also expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. It will be the second phone to feature Qualcomm’s much talked about processor. Other features expected include 4GB of RAM with 32GB base storage, 5.2-inch Quad HD display, 16MP primary camera and 13MP front camera.
