In another report by Neurogadget, Sony Xperia users may have to stretch out their patience further as the company may not be able to roll out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update this January. It turns out Sony is planning on releasing the firmware sometime around mid-February. Devices that will be first in line to receive the update include Xperia Z5, Z5 Premium and the Z5 Compact. According to reports, Sony is also testing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow’s beta version on the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact units. There were more than 10,000 users who signed up for the program. The success of the test will determine when other users can receive the update.

Sony’s update to Marshmallow could lead to meaningful differentiation, speed performance and fast-moving updates, according to Android Central. In the past years, the company has cut on the visual escapades and concentrated on turning the Xperia lineup into what Google envisioned for the Android. The company also launched the “Concept” software program which allows reworking of the company’s software from scratch. This also meant the Android can be turned into a base software and allow layering of Sony features if necessary.
