The Cleveland Cavaliers traded Varejao to the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team deal to acquire forward Channing Frye, as reported by the Morning News USA on Friday. The Blazers waived Varejao in the weekends. Varejao will don Golden State colors after spending 10 seasons in Cleveland, reveals the Bleacher Report.
Veteran forward Varejao featured for 10.0 minutes per game in 31 appearances for the Cavaliers this season. The Cavs signed Varejao to a contract extension in 2014 worth $9.6 million in 15-16, $10.3 million in 16-17, with guaranteed income of $ 9.3 million, according to Real GM. There is also $10 million non-guaranteed money for 17-18. The deal had a trade kicker worth $626,825.
Marc Stein of the ESPN tweeted that Varejao, a fan favorite at Cavaliers, has reached a final agreement with the Warriors on Sunday. Varejao has won two Eastern Conference titles with the Cavs in 2007 and in the last season.
