Amy Schumer on Pirelli Calendar. The comedic actress, will star in the latest edition of Pirelli Calendar. Alongside the Amy Schumer, sensational tennis star, Serena Williams will be posing for the latest version of the calendar as well.
The themed calendar is now in its 43rd year and is taking a radical turn. It was known for half-naked images of supermodels, but this edition is going to feature influential women in feminist poses. A viewer can see an impressive group of women combining culture, fashion and celebrity. The calendar has helped put the Italian tyre company on the map of pop culture.
The 2016 issue features pictures of 13 celebrities shot by Annie Leibovitz in her New York Studio in July. The featured 13 women are “outstanding professional, social, cultural, sporting and artistic accomplishment.” The other women are writer Fran Lebowitz, director Ava DuVernay, rocker Patti Smith and artist Yoko Ono. Previous years have featured nudity. Though there is no fully nude pose in this edition, Schumer is photographed only in undergarments and heels with her arms strategically used as a cover.
“I’m a great admirer of comediennes,” the photographer Leibovitz said. “The Amy Schumer portrait added some fun. It’s as if she didn’t get the memo saying that she could keep her clothes on.”
Regarding Amy Schumer being on the Pirelli Calendar, she tweeted an image on Monday captioned, “Beautiful, gross, strong, thin, fat, pretty, ugly, sexy, disgusting, flawless, woman. Thank you @annieleibovitz.”
