“American Idol” season 16? Ryan Seacrest might have hinted the show is coming back. Whether intentionally or accidentally, it’s enough to get fans of the reality singing contest hoping.
Seacrest’s choice of words for signing off the show is interesting. Instead of bidding everyone goodbye, he said “goodbye… for now.” Did he somehow reveal that “American Idol” is coming back?
“The real reason our lives have changed forever is you at home. We know that. We appreciate that. And one more time, this is so tough, we say to you from Hollywood, good night America… for now,” he said as he closed the explosive finale.
Fans have been conditioned to believe that Season 15 is the final season. Season 15’s finale night was also graced by guests who seem to ensure that this is indeed the final season, since it was composed of almost all “American Idol” alumni.
Seacrest might not be stretching the idea, though. Simon Cowell himself earlier hinted that the show might be coming back, albeit in another form.
“There are loads of ideas being shared and I’m deep in thought about how we can evolve Idol. We debuted at the very beginning of the digital world. So the next generation of Idol will be a lot more interactive, a lot more immersive,” Cowell revealed to The Hollywood Reporter.
“For me the most exciting thing is we can really now dive deep with all the new technology that’s coming. My head is exploding with opportunities. The next generation of Idol — and Idol will certainly be coming back for sure — will have a youthful glow and it will be pioneering again, just as it was when we first began,” he added.
