On April 6, the top 3 finalists of American Idol 2016 gave astonishing performances. Unfortunately, one of the finalists must say goodbye to the competition. Dalton Rapattoni has been removed, which means the final two contestants are Trent Harmon and La’Porsha Renae.
The official Twitter account of the television series expressed their compliments to the final 2 contestants, saying, “Congrats to @TrentWHarmon and @laporsharenae! ❤️ #IdolFinale.”
According to Heavy, the New Zealand-born singer and songwriter Keith Urban stated that American Idol 2016 will be the closest race in the show’s history.
During the second round of the competition, as stated by Hollywood Life, Harmon performed the classic track of Rod Stewart “If You Don’t Know Me By Now.” Trent gave a perfect rendition of the song, as judge Keith complimented Trent with, “I love that song! It was such a good song for you.”
“I thought it was a great choice.”
And judge Harry Connick Jr. agreed with Keith.
La’Porsha became a full-on diva with Luther Vandross’ “A House Is Not A Home.” American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez cannot contain her admiration of La’Porsha.
“That’s one of my top 5 songs of all time,” Lopez said. “So beautiful, baby!”
When it comes to the last contestant sent home before the finale, all is not lost. Dalton seems happy with the judge’s decision and how his own journey turned out. Dalton said he was satisfied even if he will not be taking home the trophy of the American Idol, because making it that far in the competition has been the most amazing thing in his life.
NJ also reported that it was really Dalton’s time. “Dalton looked infinitely relieved to be sent home. The stress of the competition seemed to wane on the contestant. Dalton was a fun, dynamic performer, but vocally, he just couldn’t stand up to Trent and La’Porsha.”
