What's This?

Most Western dignitaries boycotted Russia’s Victory Day Parade that it came as surprising when action star Steven Seagal was seen among the VIPs who attended the event. His photo as he attends the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II has been circulating online.

The West has boycotted the event in answer to Russia’s annexation of Crimea in March 2014. The West is also accusing Russia of supporting the rebels in eastern Ukraine.

Steven Seagal is a close friend to Russian president Vladimir Putin

Seagal shares a tight relationship with Russian president Vladimir Putin, The Sydney Morning Herald reported. At one point, Mr Putin has requested for Seagal to act as intermediary between the U.S. and Russia.

Mr Putin-Seagal Bromance

Mr Putin has suggested for Seagal to be the honorary consul of Russia in California and Arizona, Buzzfeed reported in April 2015. The two met each other in Moscow when they visited a martial arts complex early this year. Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s spokesman, however, said that Seagal and the Russian president were already longtime friends.

According to unnamed officials, Putin told president Barack Obama to be the poster child that will bind U.S. and Russia together.

“Our reaction was, ‘You’ve got to be kidding,’” a U.S. official told Buzzfeed.
