After having released collaborative variants of the Air Jordan 10 Retro, Jordan Brand and Drake’s record label OVO are back at it again with the upcoming release of the Air Jordan 12 Retro in OVO “White” edition.
Sneakerheads have been clamoring to get their hands, in this case feet, on a pair of Air Jordan 12 Retro OVO “White” ever since rapper-songwriter Drake rocked the shoe back in 2014. The clean white sneaker with gold accents will launch later this month.
Kicks On Fire noted the shoe features white stingray leather across the forefoot and white tumbled leather on the immaculate white upper. A gold Jumpman logo is embroidered on the tongue, while a gold patch with the word “Jumpman” clings to the lateral side of the sneaker. The upper eyelets are made of plastic colored in shimmering gold.
The outsole has a gold Jumpman on the toe area and the OVO branding on the forefoot, buried beneath the clear translucent rubber. Additionally, the shoe sports a Herringbone traction pattern with rounded edges.
According to Weartesters, Air Jordan 12 retros have the same cushioning as the original 1996 model. The Air Jordan 12 Retro OVO “White” is meant to be a lifestyle sneaker, but ballers can hoop in them just fine. Its full-length Zoom Air setup makes the shoe comfortable to wear casually and on court.
The Air Jordan 12 Retro OVO “White” will reportedly come out on July 30 at select Jordan Brand and Nike retailers in the United States. As of the moment, Jordan Brand and Nike are tight-lipped on the retail price of the extravagant version of the Air Jordan 12.
Speaking of extravagant, artist Matthew Senna recently posted on his official Instagram account a pair of Air Jordan 10 Retro OVO coated in real solid gold.
Kicks On Fire stated that the luxurious sneakers were commissioned by Drake himself. It goes without saying that the golden mid-tops are purely for art purposes since they reportedly weigh around 100 pounds.
