Jordan Brand is set to release a brand-new colorway of the Air Jordan 31 this week. The upcoming sneaker pays tribute to the host nation of the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The Air Jordan 31 “Green Abyss” is composed of a Flyweave and synthetic leather upper. Colors on the shoe include Green Abyss, White, Ghost Green and Dark Blue. As with previously-released colorways, the silhouette features a faded Nike swoosh, a large Jumpman logo on the lateral heel and an Air Jordan Wings logo on the upper medial collar.
Fit and lockdown are taken care of by thick Dark Blue laces strapped onto Green Flywire strings, which run down to the base of the shoe. Unlike the Black and Red colorway of the Air Jordan 31, the upcoming variant does not contain the word “Banned” on its clear translucent outsole.
According to Nike.com, the Air Jordan 31 represents 30 years’ worth of innovation. Flyweave ensures lightweight flexibility without compromising support. Meanwhile, synthetic leather on the heel guarantees enhanced comfort. The shoe sports an inner-sleeve collar with foam pillows for the heel and ankles.

The Air Jordan 31 is built for the aggressive slasher ala Russell Westbrook, who happens to be a Jordan Brand endorser. A USA colorway of the sneaker has also been rocked on court by NBA players such as Jimmy Butler and Carmelo Anthony.
Sneaker News pointed that the Air Jordan 31 is the first of its kind as far as branding is concerned. The performance model contains the iconic Jumpman logo, the Air Jordan Wings logo and the Nike swoosh.
The shoe might be heavily-inspired by the Air Jordan 1, but beneath its throwback design lies layers of Jordan Brand’s latest footwear technology. FlightSpeed cushioning is featured on the midsole, which contains full-length Zoom Air. A diamond herringbone pattern on the outsole offers multi-directional coverage.
The Air Jordan 31 Green Abyss launches August 12, 2016. Interested takers can grab a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.
