‘Agents of SHIELD’ Season 4 Plot: ‘Age of Ultron’ 2?
‘Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’ season 3 wrapped up with killing the bad guy as well as the good guy, but not without letting the audience peek briefly into what they could expect to see in season 4. And from the looks of it, it’s going to be a rerun of what happened in the ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’!Advertisement
‘Agents of SHIELD’ Season 3 Finale
While the fans were still reeling from the shocker that it was Lincoln who ultimately turned out to be the “Fallen Agent,” taking down Hive with him, the creators utilized the hushed aftermath to slip in a quick teaser of what to expect in season 4.
Professor Radcliffe, the science-maniac that he is, was seen conducting an experiment that he termed “LMD Phase 1,” which is short for “Life-Model Decoy,” a humanoid robot that has been featured in many Marvel comics.
Speaking fondly, about Fitz and Simmons, with AIDA, his computer, Radcliffe reveals that he was ready to begin his experiment. Immediately after, he turns to a translucent glass door which concealed the silhouette of a human-like form.
According to International Business Times, the concept of LMDs has been teased earlier in the ‘Agents of SHIELD’ when Eric Koenig and his twin were introduced.
However, it was never really confirmed that they were indeed LMDs.
‘Agents of SHIELD’ Season 4
Going forward, if the LMD teaser is explored in a big way in ‘Agents of SHIELD’ Season 4, it could prove to be the next big bad for the series. Ardent Marvel comic lovers would remember the LMD of Jake Fury going on to become the terrifying villain called Scorpio.
However, the makers of the show don’t seem to think so. In an interview with IGN, executive producer of ‘Agents of SHIELD’, Jed Whedon, said:
“He thinks he’s solving a problem right now, and he says, ‘Fitz and Simmons had friends die, maybe they didn’t have to.’ I think he thinks there might be a solution to some of these problems they’ve faced. Whether or not he’s creating a solution or a new problem, we’ll have to wait [and] see.”
However, there is a definite inclination of something going horribly wrong, since Radcliffe has a track record of messing up experiments (remember the deformed Inhumans?). And the fact that he seems to be attempting to convert AIDA into an LMD is more reasons of worrying. After all, that is how ‘Ultron’, in the second installment of ‘Avengers’ came into being, almost leading to the destruction of the world!
So will ‘Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’ season 4 be about fighting the humanoid robots rather than Inhumans? And if so, then what will be the role of the rest of the Inhumans like Daisy and Yo-Yo?
