Now that it is investing into King Digital Entertainment, Activision Blizzard Inc. might now become the leader in the mobile apps segment.

As soon as the news of acquisition reached the audience, investors sent the shares of Activision up to $35.82. King Digital Entertainment, the maker of Candy Crush, also benefited from this deal. By signing the $5.9 billion deal, the Candy Crush maker is now one of the top-grossing apps on Apple as well as Google.

Activision is known for the game “Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft,” but was in need of more. With Candy Crush, every month, King Digital gets over 450 million active users from 196 countries. Who would not want a number like that to be associated with their company? By investing into an already established gaming company, it would not have to scratch its head to come up with games people would fall head over heels for. King Digital will do the job for them.

Activision will also offer full-featured mobile versions of games to players. The acquisition is going to be a game changer not just for the companies involved, but also for the mobile gaming industry. You never know what this merger would bring in the future.

For now, all we can do is wait for further updates and hope for better games to hit the App Store as well as Google Play.
