The HBO’s comedy series is vying for the title along with “Modern Family,” “Silicon Valley,” “Transparent,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “Master of None,” and “Black-ish.”
The series follows the story of Sen. Selina Meyer, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus who is a charismatic leader and a rising star. The main character then become the vice-president and then deals with her personal and public life, as well as develop a nicer relationship with the president.
Aside from being nominated as Outstanding Comedy Series, “Veep” also bagged nominations for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series with Tony Hale.
For the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, Matt Walsh clinched a nomination as well as Anna Chlumsky for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, IMDB said.
“Veep” has several other nominations for the 68th Emmy Awards.
Last year, “Veep” also dominated the Emmy Awards in the Comedy Series category.
The comedy show has also been nominated in the Golden Globes award from 2013 up to now.
It can be recalled that “Veep” had broken the five-year streak of “Modern Family.” Meanwhile, “Modern Family” is eyed to have a decline in their awards for this year.
