“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” has been nominated for outstanding comedy series for the 68th Emmy Awards. The storyline dwells on Kimmy Schmidt (Ellie Kemper) who makes friends with her new roommate Titus.
The other contenders for Outstanding Comedy Series include Black-ish (ABC), Modern Family (ABC), Silicon Valley (HBO), Transparent (Amazon) , Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix) and Veep (HBO), CNBC reports.
“After being rescued from an underground bunker in which she lived the past 15 years, Kimmy Schmidt decides to move to New York to have a normal life,” according to IMDb. Kimmy works as a babysitter for Jacqueline Voorhees, the wife of a billionaire with many children.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock was first on NBC for 13 episodes. The show was later sold to Netflix and given a two-season order.
Since its premiere, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has received critical acclaim. Scott Meslow called the show “the first great sitcom of the streaming era.”
The series was renewed for a third season on Netflix on January 17. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has been nominated for ten Emmy Awards that includes outstanding comedy series, twice, Wikipedia reports.
The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on Sunday, Sep.18 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. It will be broadcast live in the U.S. by ABC.
The Emmy Awards will be preceded by the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony, which airs on September 17.
