Before Middleditch took on HBO TV series Silicon Valley as lead, the 34-year-old had already made his mark in Hollywood. The actor is known for his performance in “The Campaign” in 2012 and “The Wolf of Wall Street” in 2013.
While his acting in Hollywood movies has been widely appreciated by fans, Thomas Middleditch hasn’t been nominated for his achievements in feature films yet. However, the comedian has received seven nominations so far for his role in Silicon Valley.
Middleditch was consecutively nominated in the Critics Choice TV Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series in 2014 and 2015. Furthermore, the actor was nominated for Satellite Awards twice in two years for Best Actor in a Series, Comedy or Musical.
After being nominated for a Primetime Emmy, Middleditch revealed his reaction during an interview with Vulture. The comedian said:
It definitely feels good. I won’t lie. With all this stuff, I try and essentially assume that the worst is going to happen. Even prior years, people saddle up next to you and are like, “You’re probably going to get an Emmy nomination.” Then you start getting excited about it, and when it doesn’t happen, you’re bummed. I didn’t care about it in the first place, so why the hell am I upset? You spend the entire year not giving a shit, and then suddenly you care more than anything. I’m just trying to be like, “Ah, well. There’s a lot of other great nominees.” This is just really cool. I’m happy, but also I got stuff to do.
Middleditch will be competing against William H. Macy for Shameless and others for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Macy is already known for winning an Emmy in 2003 and has been nominated nine times in his career.
HBO’s Silicon Valley has also been nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. The ongoing series released its 10th episode for season 3 in June.
