68th Emmy Awards: ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ Outstanding Variety Talk Series – Facts You Need To Know
Will “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” finally take home the 68th Emmy Awards Outstanding Variety Talk Series trophy this year?Advertisement
Since 2014, the NBC late-night talk show has always been among the nominees for the said category. However, it has not yet snatched its luck for the past two years.
As it is pitted against “Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee” of Crackle, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” of AB, “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” of HBO, “The Late Late Show With James Corden” of CBS and “Real Time With Bill Maher” of HBO, does it have what it takes to be this year’s winner?
Winning at the 68th Emmy Awards is surely a tough fight.
Let us then look at what past reports were saying about “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and its 41-year-old host, who is a former cast member of “Saturday Night Live.”
“For all his skills as a performer, though, Fallon is still a question mark in terms of his ability to make magic out of nothing at the desk, the place where Johnny Carson and David Letterman thrived – and endured,” he said about the premiere of the 68th Emmy Awards Outstanding Variety Talk Series nominee.
Robert Bianco of USA Today had a different take on it, though.
Despite the fact that the debut was not perfect, he wrote that Jimmy Fallon was “easy to like” in his own version of “The Tonight Show.”
Tim Goodman of The Hollywood Reporter appeared to have supported Bianco’s take.
“He’s likable and, equally important, liked by the people who will be his guests,” he said.
Over time, the 68th Emmy Awards’s nominee for the Outstanding Variety Talk Series category has proven its worth.
In the week of Aug. 29 to Sept. 2 television ratings, “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” was on the top spot for the 11:35 p.m. timeslot in adults 18 – 49, beating “Late Night With She Myers,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,“ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and “Nightline,” Zap2It reported.
Will this performance continue in the 68th Emmy Awards Outstanding Variety Talk Series tilt happening on Sept. 18?
