Does the 38-year-old English actor and host have what it takes to make his show bring home the trophy?
It can be recalled that before he got the job, it was Craig Ferguson who used to handle the talk show which airs at around 12:30 in the morning in the United States.
Since he assumed the responsibility in September 2014, thus changing the show’s name, The Late Late Show with James Corden was nominated as Best Talk Show in both the 5th and 6th Critics’ Choice Television Awards last year.
The Late Late Show Scores Three Nominations
This year, it is set to prove its worth once more as it scored three 68th Emmy Awards nominations – Outstanding Variety Talk Series, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series and Outstanding Interactive Program, as posted by Emmy in its official site.
For the first category, many might have been thinking if it would win considering that it is being pitted with “Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,“ “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver,” “Real Time With Bill Maher“ and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.“
Reacting to the Emmy nominations of The Late Late Show with James Corden, executive producer Rob Crabbe appeared skeptical about winning despite his admiration for the host during an interview with The Wrap.
“He’s such an all-around talented guy with singing, dancing, acting, interviewing,” Crabbe pointed out. “And while he was a household name in England, he wasn’t known here in America.”
“So for a guy to step into your living room who can do so many things so well, that resonated with a lot of people,” The Late Late Show with James Corden showrunner added. “He’s such a charming, genuine person that people feel real affection for.”
When it comes to taking home the trophies, he had this to say, “I think that us winning is an impossibility. We weren’t in this Emmys race to win.”

Back in August 2014, Tim Molloy of The Wrap cited the young host’s strengths in a report.
He noted that James Corden is 17 years younger than his predecessor and he has twice more than Ferguson’s Twitter followers.
