68th Emmy Awards: Real Time With Bill Maher Outstanding Variety Talk Series – Facts You Need To Know

Real Time With Bill Maher has been a consistent nominee for the Emmy Awards Outstanding Variety Series since 2005 up to 2014. In the 68th Emmy Awards for 2016, it is nominated again.


As per IMDB, the talk show was nominated 72 times in different award giving bodies. It has won six awards. The show won two times in the Cable Ace Awards for Talk Show Series category (1995-1996). For the same Awards in 1995, he also won in the Entertainment Host category for “Politically Incorrect.”  

In 2007, he won in the Outstanding Producer of Variety Television category for the PGA Awards, for the Star of the Walk of Fame in 2010, Maher also won for television. Outstanding Informational Series or Special Vice category in the Emmy Awards went to the host-comedian in 2014.

The TV host-comedian hopes to bring home another Emmy trophy this year. The HBO talk show is now on its 14th season.

Real Time At The 68th Emmy

The mixture of politics and comedy is well handled by Maher who is a natural comedian. In the show, the guests can say anything they want to say. Maher is also a good host that does not withhold anything on his mind.

He speaks anything, positive or negative about America. It also tackles any issue in the world from social, entertainment, politics, environment and other real issues affecting the common people.

As expected the Real Time with Bill Maher is included in this year’s list of Emmy Awards nominees. The nominees for the Outstanding Variety Talk Series aside fro, Maher’s show are his contemporaries. They are Late Show With James Corden, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Jimmy Kimmel Live.  Also, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee are also nominated.

Real Time With Bill Maher as the name suggests tackles current issues that occupy headlines. As one site says, “It remains one of TV’s most thoughtful — and thought-provoking — discussion programs”.
