Jeffrey Tambor has been nominated for lead actor in a comedy for his role in “Transparent.” The 72-year-old actor bagged the nomination for outstanding performance for the 68th Emmy Award.


He is vying with actors like Anthony Anderson (Black-ish), Aziz Ansari (Masters of None), Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth), William H Macy (Shameless) and Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley), according to TV Line.

Jeffrey Tambor won the Emmy Award in 2015 for his role in the series. Tambor got a repeat nomination for his portrayal of Maura.

“What’s interesting about this season is that most Season 2s do plus 10 percent and what Jill Soloway and company have done is just whole new beautiful creation. You can’t make a mistake if it comes from the heart,” the actor said, speaking to Deadline.

Tambor was born on July 8, 1944 in San Francisco, California. His dad was a flooring contractor and mother was a housewife.

Jeffrey Tambor grew up in a conservative Jewish family with his roots in Hungary, Kyiv and Ukraine. The actor graduated from San Francisco University and then his master’s degree from Wayne State University, Wikipedia reports.

The voice actor is known for his roles like Hank Kingsley on “The Larry Sanders Show,” George Bluth Sr and Oscar Bluth on “Arrested Development” and Maura Pfefferman on “Transparent.”

Jeffrey Tambor received the Golden Globe Award for best actor in a television series – musical or comedy in 2015. He also won the Screen Actors Guild Award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a comedy series.

Tambor was also awarded the Critics’ Choice Television Award for best actor in a comedy series. Jeffrey Tambor has five children –out of which four sons are with his second wife Kasia Ostlun. His oldest child, Molly Tambor, was born on July 5, 1975.

The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on Sunday, Sep.18 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. It will be broadcast live in the U.S. by ABC.

The Emmy Awards will be preceded by the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony, which airs on September 17.
