Felicity Huffman has been nominated for lead actress in TV/Movie or limited series for her role in “American Crime.” The 53-year-old actress 68th Emmy Award nomination bagged the nomination for outstanding supporting actress.


She is vying with actresses like Kristen Dunst (“Fargo”), Audra McDonald (“Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill”), Sarah Paulson (“The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”), Kerry Washington (“Confirmation”), and her very own “American Crime” co-star Lili Taylor , according to Vanity Fair.

Felicity Huffman, born on Dec.9, 1962 in Bedford, New York. She is best known for her former role as Lynette Scavo in “Desperate Housewives,” one of the longest running comedy series for ABC . The series ran from 2004-2012. Afterwards, she earned an Emmy Award for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for her role in “American Crime”, Season 1. She got two Screen Actors Guild Awards, too.

According to IMDB, The actress made her big screen debut with a small role in “Things Change” in 1988. Huffman attended private boarding school, The Putney School, and graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, majoring in theater in 1981. She pursued studies in the New York University –BFA in Drama; and then Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, according to bio.

Felicity Huffman will reprise her role as Barbara ‘Barb’ Hanlon in American Crime, Season 3 that will be set in North Carolina. It will deal with labor issues, economic divides and individual rights, according to a report from TV Line. After Regina King, she signed for the upcoming third installment of John Ridley’s popular ABC anthology series.

Felicity Huffman is also known for her roles in “Transamerica” (2005), “Georgia Rule” (2007). The well-respected actress has also gotten a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Dana Whitaker in “Sports Night,” ABC’s acclaimed comedy. For “Transamerica,” Felicity Huffman got a Golden Globe Award, Independent Spirit Award, National Board of Review and an Academy Award nomination for best actress. Huffman married actor William H. Macy on Sep.6, 1997. They have two daughters together, Sofia Grace and Georgia Grace.

The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on Sunday, Sep.18 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. It will be broadcast live in the U.S. by ABC. The Emmy Awards will be preceded by the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony, which airs on September 17. It wil be held at the same venue.
