4.7″ iPhone 6 and 5.5″ iPhone 6+ to be Available for Purchase Simultaneously on September 19
More rumors are still pouring in as we enter the eve of Apple’s September 9 big event where the Cupertino firm is expected to announce the latest iterations of its premier mobile handset, the iPhone.
To further add fuel to the conflagration, there has been a multitude of leaked parts and even a video of an alleged actual working model of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 going around the net but as to the iPhone 6+, it seems that all is quiet in that front.
Certain quarters report that the 4.7-inch iPhone will be monikered as the iPhone 6 while its bigger brother, the 5.5-incher, will be christened the iPhone 6+ (plus). Of course we should always take rumors like this with the usual grain of salt but the latter does give the bigger iPhone a distinctive name to describe its main feature and differentiate it from its smaller sibling. The report continues that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is codenamed N61 while the 5.5-inch iPhone 6+ phablet is model number N56. It should be remembered that Apple started using the somewhat larger 4-inch screen for the iPhone 5S and 5C when these were launched in 2012 – a slight increase from the 3.5-inch screen Apple used for previous iPhone models. This year’s models, aside from having the larger screens, will also feature some buttons re-assignments with the lock button migrating to the upper right side of the device to make one-handed manipulations easier. The iDevices will also sport refinements to their already svelte profiles which may include rounder corners, bigger volume buttons and tapered glass edges.
The purported date of availability for the iPhones is slated on September 19, two weeks after their announcement tomorrow, which has been Apple’s traditional release schedule for any of its new products. A lot of people were worried that only the smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will be available for purchase after the unveiling but people in the know assured the masses that both iPhones will be on sale on September 19 though the bigger one, the iPhone 6+, will have limited numbers of retail units. This bit of sad news confirms the previous rumors that Apple had some manufacturing issues with its biggest iPhone yet.
Only a few hours now and Apple will take the center stage once more to present to the world their latest wares!
