More Than 1 Million Orders Booked, Apple Watch Sold Out
Apple Watch, the flagship product of Apple, is off to a huge start with more than 1 million orders received on its first day. The Apple Watch online window that opened at midnight announced out of stocks by mid-morning.
Now, orders are being accepted for the month of June as the initial batch to be shipped on April 24 got sold out in 30 minutes.
The curiosity of people regarding the new watch was quite high, thanks to clever advertising done by the company despite harsh reviews from critics. When the company announced the sale, the rush turned massive. Apple Watch availability is a big question for anyone who could not pre-order the product on its first day.
People booked all varieties of the smartwatch, from the not-too-costly Sports model to the “oh-so-costly” Gold. If data mentioned by Investors is to be believed, 957,000 people ordered the watch with many shopping for more than one. Apart from the Sports model that cost $349, the stainless steel variety starting $549 received great response from customers.
While people are trying different variety of Apple Watches in the stores, they are keener to buy those with larger screen size. Seventy-one percent of the first orders booked were for the 42mm size, according to Quartz.
The initial targeted sale of the company was around 2.5 to 3 million, but they restricted to only 1.25 to 1.5 million due to a display issue the product faces. The limiting factor was not demand but supply.
Apple, however, expects to gain a larger demand as people start using the product.
